He cut his teeth in bars long before he was legally allowed to be there; playing throughout the South until a catastrophic house fire urged him to leave for California at age 20.
While there in Los Angeles, he rejoined his former bandmate Jonathan Wilson and other North Carolina imports in the burgeoning rebirth of the rock scene in LA.
